Yet another reason to add to the million others why my scholars deserve this opportunity. Yesterday evening we held our academic excellence ceremony where the students are presented with academic jackets, patches, and sweaters for achieving Masteries and Advances on their state tests (ILEAP and LEAP). All but one of the students going on the trip (and the one who didn't make it missed it by a few points) earned an academic jacket/sweater. They work so hard to excel in their classes. Again, yet another reason why these kids deserve so much!
The picture has includes three of the kids that are going on this trip! Congrats ladies!

Hola friends! Tomorrow we will be hosting two fundraisers for our trip! Raising Canes from 3 to 8pm (4009 Behrman Pl Algiers, LA) and Tutti Frutti from 4 to 10pm (1545 Lapalco Blvd Harvey, LA 70058). Everyone with us must say that they're with Harte for us to get credit for the sale. 15% of the total sales with Harte will be donated to our trip! What a great Friday night you have planned. ;) First some dinner at Cane's and then dessert at Tutti Frutti. Please share this information with anyone! The more the merrier! Some of us will be standing outside the Canes tomorrow.

Gracias!

Our local Tutti Frutti will be holding a Harte night every 3rd Friday for the remainder of the school year to help us raise funds. What a wonderful experience the kids had.

Last night we held our fundraising night at our local Canes. It was very chilly but spirits were high! The kids held up signs and welcomed everyone. We were not allowed to hand anything out (aka solicit customers) but we had a table with our brochures just in case anyone had any questions. Many parents, students, and staff joined us that night. We thanked everyone! Some customers were compelled to also donate cash. We collected $50 in just cash. Thank youuuu!!!

Spanish Club was in charge of face painting for the lower grades during our Fall fest. Mrs. Julie Steele who is an amazing face painter volunteered herself (and skills) to face paint for us. She is co-owner of an entertainment business and does face painting professionally. Two other teachers (Ms. Cross and Ms. Smith) helped out tremendously as well. The kids loved the face paint. We managed to paint 60 kids!

Schools starts in less than 48 hours and I'm super excited to get our fundraising back up and running. We will be hosting a fundraising event at our local Tutti Frutti this month along with many other events. For now, let me leave you with a video from EF Tours with hopes that my students will feel just as much an impact as the students in the video. Ciao!

What a wonderful experience! The kids showed up at our local Winn Dixie to Bag for Bucks. The students bagged groceries in hopes of receiving donations. All the kids were so patient and charming. They shared our trip and goals with the community. The customers were so generous. I don't have a final amount but it's between $500 and $600. Amazing! Ms. Roath, Ms. Conley (one of the parents), and I are so proud of the students. They all worked so hard! We hope to do this every month. We're only allowed one day a month. I hope to continue having great fundraising experiences. Thank you for your support!

¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo! Finally! We began our fundraising full force yesterday during our May fair. We served Mexican chocolate brownies, cookies, and cupcakes. Everyone was extremely supportive and we sold out of everything! We'll update our thermometer very soon! We have our next fundraising event on May 11th! Updates to come soon!

We are teachers at Alice M. Harte in New Orleans, LA. We recognize how important exposure to different cultures and languages is. We want all of our students to have the opportunity to travel the world!
